Loving Our Moms' Group
I grew up in a tiny Texas town, I'm talking 500 people small. So everybody knew everybody and making friends was no big thang.
After graduation I moved to Denton with multiple friends from high school to attend college at TWU. Meeting people was a breeze.
But then I moved to Garland, womp womp. Besides family, I knew no one. I mean no one. This went on for about a year. I had friends come stay with us but they lived FOREVER away. It sucked.
Then I met Michelle. Sweet Michelle.
Little Liam had his two month well-baby check up at our pediatrician's office, and Michelle and her baby girl were there for the same thing. We talked across the waiting room for a good ten minutes before they moved over and sat next to us. The sounds of laughter and sarcasm filled the waiting room as we introduced ourselves and talked about our little ones.
About a minute after we were called back to see our doctor I was like, "Crap, I didn't give her my number. Ugh." So I quickly scribbled down a my number on a sheet of the nurse's paper that read, "Lets be friends, hokay?" and made my husband run it back to her.
She invited me to moms' group at the Nappy Shoppe.
The Nappy Shoppe is super chill and a great place to find baby gear, especially clothe diapers. The staff is awesome and super informative. If you've got baby questions hit them up.
The moms' group is off to the side of the shoppe, about 20 women and their babies meet up in this room every wednesday to just be moms together.
I love these women. Even the ones that I've barely met. I love getting to know them, and hearing all about their baby experiences each week.
We all sit around talking life, baby smiles, baby poop, and breastfeeding those babies. Hooray for mommy friends.
So little Liam and I are got ourselves some new friends who are going through the same things we are. You know like teething and figuring out how to deal with a teething baby. Good stuff.
If you are a new mama, seriously, find a moms' group. You will not be sorry.
