Someday You Will

For a decent portion of my childhood my mom was a single mother. I saw her work, and cry, and claw to get even a step ahead of the game. I knew it was incredibly hard for her to do it all on her own, but this superman of a woman always gave us what we needed when we needed it. I love my mom so much. Mom, you are amazing.

I hadn't thought much about my mom's single life and the role that had on how she mothered. But lately I've been watching one of my dearest friends, Rachael, with awe as she becomes an amazing single mother.

I can't possibly imagine doing it all by myself, while I know she has family members that are a great help, raising a child on your own is a tremendous responsibility. She has a sweet five month old baby girl, just finished college, is working a job, breastfeeding, and making her own baby food for Heaven's sake.

With every touch and smile you can clearly see how much she loves that little girl. I know there are times when it seems like making it tomorrow is impossible, but honey you're doing wonderful.

This scripture has been on my heart and I think it's for you, Rachael and all other single moms out there.

"Jesus replied, 'You don't understand what I'm doing now, but someday you will.'" John 13:7

I know as a mom it's so easy to get frustrated and want to know what's going to happen down the road. But God wants our complete trust in him, even when it's not easy. Even when all you want to do is run away and cry.

Motherhood is not just another job, it is a calling God has put in your life. Run to him, he is waiting to soothe your fears, stress, and heart break.
